Subjects, grades, and classes

Overview

Here you will learn how to register subjects, grades, and classes in RSM.

Grades

Grade is a number of the year a student has reached in a given educational stage.
To create a grade in the system:
  1. Go to School and click School grades.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Enter the grade Code. For example, 1.

Classes

Class is a group of students attending a specific course or lesson. Students are usually grouped in classes according to age and will remain with the same group for a number of years, or sometimes their entire school career.
To create a class manually:
  1. Go to School and click School classes.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Enter the class Code. For example, A1.
  4. Enter the class Description. For example, Class A1.
  5. Enter the Grade.
  6. In the Educator field, specify a staff member who is responsible for the class.

Subjects

Subjects are the parts into which learning can be divided. At school, each lesson usually covers one subject only. Some of the most common subjects at school are Languages, History, Mathematics, Physical education, and Science.
To register a subject in the system:
  1. Go to School and click Subjects.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Enter the subject Description. For example, History of Middle Ages.
  4. Select the Subject type from the list:
  • O - other subject
  • H - home language
  • F - first additional language
  • X - excluded from Ground Total
  • N - excluded from Bachelor's pass
5.. Enter the Abbreviation if necessary and specify the Discipline the subject belongs to. For example, History of Middle Ages belongs to History.
6. Specify mark max points for the subject. For more info about mark max points, see Marks.
7. Click Save and close.

Terms

Term is a division of the academic year in which classes are held.
To create terms in the system:
  1. Go to List & Settings and click Terms.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Enter the Description.
  4. Click Save and close.
To specify the number of days per term:
  1. Go to List & Settings and click Terms.
  2. Open the required term.
  3. Click Number of days per term at the top.
  4. Click Create.
  5. Enter the Number of days.
  6. Click Save and close.

Change Grade and Class History

You can use this tool to accept new students to the class, move classes from one class or grade to another, and mark students as inactive.

Accepting New Students

To accept new students:
  1. Go to School and click Learners' Rollover.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Select the Take New mode.
  4. Select the Take new option: Empty class and grade, Empty class, or Empty grade.
  5. Select the New class and New grade you accept the students to.
  6. Click Fill in students to add all students with empty classes and/or grades or Add to add them manually.
  7. Select the checkboxes in the Mark column for the students you want to accept to a new class and grade or click Check all to select all students.
  8. Enter New class and New grade manually or click Fill in new Grade and Class to specify the grade and class selected in the New class and New grade fields for the marked students.
  9. Click Apply.
  10. Click Post and close.

Moving Students to Another Class

To move students to another class:
  1. Go to School and click Learners' Rollover.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Select the Move class mode.
  4. Select the Current Class and Current Grade and click Fill in students to add all students of the specified class and grade. You can also add students manually.
  5. Select the New class and New grade you accept the students to.
  6. Select the checkboxes in the Mark column for the students you want to move to a new class and grade or click Check all to select all students.
  7. Click Fill in new Grade and Class to specify the grade and class selected in the New class and New grade fields for the marked students. You can also enter new classes and grades manually.
  8. Click Apply.
  9. Click Post and close.

Marking Students as Inactive

To mark students as inactive:
  1. Go to School and click Learners' Rollover.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Select the Inactive mode.
  4. Specify the Inactivation reason. For example, Transferred to different school.
  5. Select the Current Class and Current Grade and click Fill in students to add all students of the specified class and grade. You can also add students manually.
  6. Select the checkboxes in the Mark column for the students you want to mark as inactive or click Check all to select all students.
  7. Click Apply.
  8. Click Post and close.

School Classes Report

In this report, you can see the list of students of a particular class, their dates of birth, genders, and a number of boys and girls in each class.
To run the report:
  1. Go to School and click School classes under Reports.
  2. Filter the report by Class and Grade, if necessary.
  3. Click Run report.
