Product Kitting
Overview
Here you will find out how to assemble a finished product from components stored in the warehouse, replace defective components, and disassemble the finished product into components in Rise Business.
Settings
To set up kitting (reverse kitting) in the system:
- Go to Master data and settings – Warehouse and delivery.
- Click Product kitting.
- Select the Kitting checkbox.
- If required, set up the following:
- To register orders for kitting and reverse kitting, select the Kitting orders checkbox. This allows you to plan kitting operations.
- To prevent kitting orders assembled (disassembled) incompletely from being closed, select the Do not close partially assembled (disassembled) orders for kitting checkbox.
- Specify how you want to Assign components (kits) separately: By assembled kit assignment or By kitting order.
- To enable statuses for kitting orders, select the Kitting order statuses checkbox.
- To enable statuses for product kitting documents, select the Kitting statuses checkbox.
Kit Configurations
Before you have a kit in stock, it must be assembled from components. In the item card, you can create several kit configurations to use them to automatically fill in the product kitting document. Kit configuration is a document that contains the list of components required to assemble the finished product.
To create a kit configuration:
- Go to Master data and settings > Items (under Master data) and open the item you want to create a kit configuration for.
- On the Attributes tab, click Supply and production.
- Click the Kit configurations link.
- Click Create.
- If applicable, specify the Variant of the item that will be assembled.
- Enter the Option name.
- Specify the Quantity of kits to assemble.
- Specify the planned Kitting duration in days. Note: it is only used in Kitting orders.
- If you want this kit configuration to be prefilled in the product kitting document by default, select the Major option checkbox.
- Click Add to add components of the kit. Specify their Quantity, Unit of measure, and Cost share (for reverse kitting).
- Click Save and close.
Product Kitting Document
Kitting
Kitting is an operation of assembling a finished product from components.
To create a Product kitting document for kitting manually:
- Go to Warehouse and delivery > Internal documents (all)
- Click Create > Product kitting > Kitting.
- On the Main tab, specify the Company and the Warehouse to take the components from.
- Specify the Item to assemble and the Assembled quantity.
- You can specify the kit configuration in the Product kit field to save time on data input.
- If applicable, you can specify the Assignment (if the kit is assembled for a specific purpose, for example, under a particular sales order document).
7. On the Components tab, add components using one of the following ways:
- Click Add and add components manually. Then specify the Quantity.
- Click Fill > Fill in with components to copy the components and quantities from the kit configuration.
8. If the Kitting statuses checkbox is selected in the settings, specify the required document status:
- In progress. Writes off kit components from the warehouse, but doesn't create a kit in the warehouse yet.
- Assembled (disassembled). Registers the assembled kit in the warehouse.
9. Click Post and close.
If statuses are not used, when the document is posted, the components are written off, and the kit is accepted to the warehouse.
Note: if an advanced warehouse is specified in the document, the components will not be consumed, and the kit will not be accepted after the document is posed. Instead, you will see a reference to register a goods issue in the Shipment workplace and the reference to register a goods receipt in the Receipt workplace. Once you register a goods issue, the components will be written off. Once you register a goods receipt, the kit will appear in the warehouse.
You can also create the product kitting document based on the sales order or kitting order. The document will be automatically filled in with the order data.

Once you register a goods issue, the kit will be written off. Once you register a goods receipt, the components will appear in the warehouse.
Replacing Defective Components
There are might be situations when you need to replace a defective component of a kit, but do not want to write off the whole kit. You can use the Product kitting document for that.
- Register a Product kitting document with the Reverse kitting transaction to disassemble a kit into components.
- Write off a defective component from the warehouse using the Stock shortage recognition document.
- Register a Product kitting document with the Kitting transaction to assemble the same kit, but this time use another component instead of the defective one.
Converting Item Measurement Units
Another interesting case of using Product kitting is to convert an item from one unit of measure to another. For example, we accepted Paint in barrels (Item "Barrel of paint 200 liters" stored in psc). Later we want to use some paint, but cannot do it, because we need to write off the whole barrel, not a part of it. In this case, we can use Kitting, and specify that we want to assemble 200 kg of "Red paint" (a new product) out of 1 pcs of "Barrel of paint 200 liters". Later we can write off the required number of kg.
