Creating and Fulfilling Itineraries

Creating Itineraries

After analyzing the transportation demand by both in-house and outsourced carriers, the company creates planned itineraries. These itineraries are usually created for a specific vehicle type, taking into account its carrying and loading capacity to determine whether they can meet the transportation demand for a given day.
If all transport needs are served by several vehicles, it makes sense to create itineraries tailored to each individual vehicle.

Creating Itineraries by Vehicle Types

  1. Go to Warehouse and delivery > Itinerary.
  2. Select the From our warehouse or the To our warehouse option.
  3. Select a Warehouse and select a required method (or both).
  4. Click the Create itineraries tab.
  5. On the right side of the workplace, click Create.
6. In the Select vehicles to create itineraries workplace, click the Vehicles types tab, find the Vehicle type with the corresponding cargo transportation parameters, and select it.
7. Fill the Time from and Time to columns.

Allocating Transportation Requirements to Itineraries

Once the itineraries are created, the transportation needs are assigned to the relevant itineraries.
During allocation, it is important to take into account common delivery zones, similar time slots, and physical constraints of the vehicle or vehicle type. We recommend that you perform this process sequentially. First filter all references related to the same delivery zone, then perform the allocation for other delivery zones. Finally, compare the weight and volume of the cargo being transported with the capacity of the carriers assigned to each itinerary.
  1. Go to Warehouse and delivery > Itinerary.
  2. Select the From our warehouse or To our warehouse option.
  3. Select a Warehouse and select a required method (or both).
  4. Select the Delivery zone.

  6. Select references with transportation requirements, and, using the drag-and-drop functionality, allocate them to Itineraries.
  7. Open the Itinerary document.
  8. Click the Route tab, and check if route points are filled with transportation requirements.

Scheduling Itineraries

The planned routes with the transport requirements allocated to them are moved to route points scheduling. Initially, it is necessary to book a vehicle, driver, and shipping agent for the itinerary. Next, you check the cargo's physical characteristics against the vehicle capacity. During this process, you also need to establish the order of route's delivery points, and to specify standard timing for distances between them.

Releasing Vehicles onto Routes

After scheduling the itineraries, the cargo is loaded onto the vehicle at the warehouse in accordance with transportation requirements.
